Cocoreach Inc.
Work at the company I co-founded
Overview
Cocoreach Inc. provides products and services for the live entertainment field, starting with the purchase-prediction system LUMION (official site). However much a venue heats up, that heat used to leave no record once the show ended, and nobody could put it to use for what came next. We are working to preserve those feelings as data and return them to the next moment of emotion. Our tagline, 「気持ちを資産にする会社。」 (“turning feelings into assets”), condenses that resolve.
As co-founder and deputy CEO and CTO, I am responsible for hardware, signal processing, and communications development, as well as corporate planning, development negotiations, and overall direction of our development projects, including technology selection.
Founding the company
I met our current CEO through JETRO J-StarX @ Stanford / d.school, and that meeting led to co-founding the company. Having received so much support as an engineer in my junior and senior high school years, I wanted this time to be on the side that supports people who build, and that is why I decided to join.
Products in development
A meeting around the prototype under developmentOur way of developing products has stayed consistent. We go out and interview people across live entertainment, in event operation, staging, and merchandise production, and we turn the problems that surface there into products, solving them one at a time. The prototype of NIA / COCOMO, a plush toy that beats in time with a heartbeat, was also born in this process.
LUMION is a purchase-prediction system that measures pulse with sensors built into live-event merchandise and visualizes consumers’ latent purchase intent in real time. It makes it possible to show, with data rather than intuition, which staging raised the venue’s energy.
The other flagship product is Iris, an individually controllable penlight. Born from interviews at live venues, it lights the audience one penlight at a time, aiming to turn the entire venue into a single display.
Activities so far
At the Cocoreach officeIn Japan, we are pushing forward with various validations, including a field trial at Nanananasai, the festival held by 100BANCH, where we had been accepted. Our CEO has also joined programs such as DMZ Japan Basecamp and Makers Garage, and the company’s range of activity keeps expanding.
From July 2025, after being accepted into JETRO Beyond Japan Zero to X, we went to Los Angeles to validate the North American live entertainment market and build relationships with local companies and investors. In 2026 we also gave a workshop presentation at the international conference IEEE RoboSoft 2026. I intend to build a company that can talk about its technology in both business and research settings.
